What should I consider when choosing or changing my coverage?

Timing

You can change your Medicare Supplement Plan at any time   You can even change more than once in a year.  However, if you are on a Medicare Advantage Plan, you can only change between October 15 and December 7.  The same is true for a Prescription Drug Plan.  There may be special circumstances that will allow for change at other times.  Call us anytime and we will help 888-698-4263

Cost

How much are your premiums, deductibles, and other costs? For Medicare Supplements, the only difference for the same Plan is the premium.  This can vary greatly between insurance carriers but the benefits have to be the same for individual Plans per Federal Guidelines.  It is best to shop around.  We can shop all the major carriers for you and find the best rate for your age and zip code.  There is no cost to you…call us today 888-698-4243

Coverage

There are 11 Plans available including the High Deductible Plan F.  Plans A thru N are discussed in the section Medicare Supplement Plan Options

Doctor and hospital choice

You only need to consider Doctors and Hospitals if you are on a Medicare Advantage Plan which have networks.  With a Medicare Supplement Plan you can go to any Doctor or Hospital that accepts Medicare.

Prescription drugs

Do you need to join a Medicare drug plan? Are your drugs covered under the plan’s formulary? Are there any coverage rules that apply to your prescriptions?

Travel

Will you have coverage in another state or outside the U.S.?

Your other coverage

Do you have, or are you eligible for, other types of health or prescription drug coverage (like from a former or current employer or union)? If so, read the materials from your insurer or plan, or call them to find out how the coverage works with, or is affected by, Medicare. If you have coverage through a former or current employer or union or other source, talk to your benefits administrator, insurer, or plan before making any changes to your coverage. If you drop your coverage, you may not be able to get it back.
